“The narcissistic personality disorder of the Board on Judicial Standards” is the stinging characterization of prominent Twin Cities criminal defense counsel, Joe Friedberg, who, along with Paul Engh (who does not seem to have a website so cannot be “linked to”), represented retired Hennepin County Judge Jack Nordby and celebrated the Minnesota Supreme Court’s 3-judge panel dismissal of a complaint the board brought against Judge Nordby.
Judge Nordby had been at odds with an advocacy group that was critical of the judge’s perceived laxness toward criminal defendants. Or, put another way, the advocacy group was critical of Nordby’s respect for the rights of those charged by the state with criminal conduct. How you characterize Nordby’s position depends, of course, on which side you take in the controversy.
