Today’s Minneapolis Star Tribune includes an AP story about a Missouri lawyer apparently getting rich by taking on mega hog farms in lawsuits in Missouri arising out of the apparently noxious odors that emanate from such businesses.


To file under, “Gosh Darn That E-Mail,” the article reports that,  In an internal memo accidentally e-mailed to The Kansas City Star last year, [mega hog farm] attorneys estimated the company’s exposure to litigation against Premium Standard at $150 million to $200 million.”  


Not surprisingly, the hog farm seeks insurance coverage for these costly claims and, given the potential liability perhaps, it is equally unsurprising that insurers are not loosening their purse strings willingly…
